Service Description

1 in 5 people have dyslexia and its probable accompaniment, ADHD. Instead of classifying ADHD as a disorder, experts are now shifting their language and understanding of neurodiversity and seeing it as a mix of assets and liabilities. An emerging name for ADHD is VAST, or Variable Attention Stimulus Trait. This name raises awareness of a typical internal response to ADHD: "rejection sensitive dysphoria," and its flip side: “recognition responsive euphoria” — the super-charged response to perceived encouragement. As an Executive Skills Coach, I teach students how to better understand how their individual brains work and support their efforts to better organize themselves in a world that is not necessarily attuned to their needs. We develop skills that enable them to succeed not only in a particular academic subject, but also in life in general. Every session is tailored to what is most needed, whether it is academic support, appropriate communication with teachers and administrators, habit tracking and sculpting, or mindfulness exercises.
